| So you can't wait to start rostering! | ||
| Well print this page for reference, download a copy of SchedulerLite and then follow the steps below. These will guide you through the basics for creating a roster from scratch. | ||
** Important Tip ** Always ensure you have an open database before clicking on buttons or selecting menu items to see what they do. Either open an existing database or create a new one. |
| Create your own database by clicking on the yellow rectangle with the small sun on it. This is on the toolbar near the top left of the screen. You will be asked to give your database a name. | ||
Note: - By leaving your mouse cursor on a button on the toolbar for a short time a label (called a hint) will appear that describes what the button does. |
| Select the 'Roster' option on the menu on the left hand side of the screen. | ||
| This is a two step process. | ||
Hint: Do not enter an end date for the Roster Type as this may cause you problems later.
Note: The start and end dates are defaulted so feel free to change them but ensure that they do not fall outside any dates you entered for the Roster Type. |
| Place the mouse cursor in the area at the bottom left of the screen under Available Resources. Click the right hand mouse button and select the 'Insert' option on the menu that appears. Enter a 'Family Name' and select OK. This will add a resource to the list of available resources. | ||
| Place the mouse cursor on a resource in the list of available resources. Press and hold down the left hand mouse button, and move the mouse cursor onto the large rectangular area on the right hand side. When the cursor changes to an arrow with a rectangle below it release the mouse button. You have just 'dragged and dropped'. | ||
This will add the resource to the roster and create a rectangle (called a slot) that indicates when the resource is rostered. |
Place the mouse cursor on the blue rectangle. Press and hold down the left hand mouse button, and move the mouse cursor. This will move the blue rectangle and change the times that the resource is rostered. |
You can also 'grab' the left or right side of the blue rectangle to change the length of time the resource is rostered on for. You can double click on the blue rectangle to open a form to change its details. |
We have only covered the basics here. There's a lot more to SchedulerLite. Have fun! |

| When printing a roster, set the number of pages to control the presentation (e.g. for a five day roster set the number of pages to five so that each day is printed on a separate page). | ||
| Use the Print Preview facility to view the report before printing. Change the number of pages to give the desired result. |
